Dec 6: The journey to Bethlehem

maryNjosephDonkey-nativity

“Until he extends the circle of his compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace.” – Albert Schweitzer

Rejoice heart and soul, daughter of Zion! Shout for joy, daughter of Jerusalem! Look, your king is approaching, he is vindicated and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. – Zechariah 9:9

Mary and Joseph travelled far.
On a donkey from Nazareth.
A census to register in Bethlehem.
A very pregnant Mary, tired and weary.

It must have been a harsh journey.
A winter of rain and snow.
Freezing nights out in the desert.
How much more the toll on Mary.

With hazards along the route travelled.
How terrifying the dangers and hardships.
For a young couple with no other companions.
A young mother expecting her first child.

Take a trip back into time.
Where today’s inventions does not exist.
Can you walk this journey of 80 miles?
Will you accompany Mary and Joseph?

Please continue to share with friends, for the World needs our prayers.
Peace be with you. Amen.
