The nursing home was abuzz.
The old folks were having visitors.
Laughter and joy filled the home.
Today was Valentine’s Day!
But not everyone is lucky.
She sat looking out the window.
It didn’t help to be sad; or cry.
Looking stoic was less painful.
She wished this day to end.
For days like this were torture.
People being kind, yet cruel.
“You poor dear, all alone.”
She dreamed of that young girl.
Strong, fearless and full of life.
In her place sat this tired, old lady.
Waiting to skip and run freely again.
