My soul cries out to God

It is so easy to lose God.
The mind plays tricks.
The body tired of its burden.
I am sinking in quicksand.

Bad things, each day.
Is it evil on the rampage?
Stabbing at my faith.
My soul in darkness.

My prayer life, a struggle.
I am angry all the time.
I have lost sight of God.
My soul has broken down.

I cried out to God in prayer.
What is trying to hurt me?
In my home I am not safe.
I sense this evil. What is it?

I pray, but faith is fragile.
Self doubt overshadows.
Mishaps by unseen evil.
Each time a minor injury.

I tell God I am failing.
No matter I can’t feel God,
Or think I have lost Him.
My soul cries out to God.

I'm a Eurasian of Portuguese, English, Scottish and Malay heritage. And my extended family are of Chinese and Indian heritage. In recent years, the younger generation have added on to include spouses from the Philippines, Nigeria and Russia. My world is made up of different colours like the rainbow. And like the rainbow I am unique. Reading is my form of relaxation, to escape from the drudgery of daily life and enter into a world of the imagination. It is the love of reading that has led me to try my hand in writing short stories and poems. I hope that in some way my stories and poems will take you for a little while away from the drudgery of the present into the pages of imagination. To new friends found, I bid you, Welcome. Sincerely, C.E. Pereira

  1. My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?
Why so far from my call for help,
    from my cries of anguish.
    My God,I call by day, but you do not answer;
by night, but I have no relief.

Psalm 22- the prayer of an innocent person.
