What if today is my finish line?

20190720_022917

I prepared my whole life.
Planning for the future.
Fast forward thirty years.
I’m still looking to the future.

My destination, the future.
The train never stops.
I keep riding on the train.
Dreaming of a secure future.

What do I do now, today?
Instead, of the future.
But everything is wrong.
And the station flashed by.

Never getting off today.
I haven’t stepped off.
Next station, tomorrow.
I’ll get off the train then.

Get off that train. I scream.
Hug today. Bask in it.
Don’t wait for tomorrow.
Let tomorrow go.

Yet, I chase tomorrow.
Dreaming of a secure future.
What if today is my finish line?
And tomorrow never arrives.
