Winter has arrived

autumn

A cold wind touches the soul.
Frost has covered the grounds.
Bones hurt. Chill seeps inside.
Winter has arrived too soon.

Its fragrant lingers behind.
The rose has withered.
Petals swirling in the wind.
Winter claims the rose.

The old dear sense sadness.
A heartbeat slowing down
The soul about to break free.
Winter felt, an end near.

Sleep approaches the soul.
The countdown has begun.
Each heartbeat slower.
Winters’ frost lurking closer.

Even with the hint of sadness,
There is a welcome smile.
The soul ready to leave.
Winters’ cold stops the heart.
