Simple joys of life

Soap bubbles reflecting the colours of the rainbow. A simple joy on a cold, yet sunny morning.
Soap bubbles reflecting the colours of the rainbow. A simple joy on a cold, yet sunny morning.

A cold night.
Fireplace lighted.
Hot chocolate.
Toasted marshmallows.
Simple contentment.

A lazy morning.
A best friend.
Shapes of clouds.
Lots of sheep.
Simple relaxation.

A fun weekend.
The fair ground.
On the ferry’s wheel.
Eating cotton candy.
Simple fun time.

Robust game of tag.
Laughter fills the air.
Excited screams of kids.
I smile with joy.
Simple playtime.

Wading in the stream.
Catching little fishes.
Not aware they were tadpoles.
Happily taking it home.
Simple exploration.

Camera in hand.
Focusing on the baby.
Every move shot.
A parent’s joy.
Simple delight.

Back from the office.
Tired, I am home.
I am smiling.
My cats purring.
Simple day.

That happy moment.
So fleeting.
Simple joys of life.
You tuck it away.

I'm a Eurasian of Portuguese, English, Scottish and Malay heritage. And my extended family are of Chinese and Indian heritage. In recent years, the younger generation have added on to include spouses from the Philippines, Nigeria and Russia. My world is made up of different colours like the rainbow. And like the rainbow I am unique. Reading is my form of relaxation, to escape from the drudgery of daily life and enter into a world of the imagination. It is the love of reading that has led me to try my hand in writing short stories and poems. I hope that in some way my stories and poems will take you for a little while away from the drudgery of the present into the pages of imagination. To new friends found, I bid you, Welcome. Sincerely, C.E. Pereira
