Life is a gift

autumn

Life is God’s gift to us.
Have you seen the wonders around you?
A smile or laughter, hugs and kisses.
My heart beat; the gift of life.

Can one only survive on food alone?
Yes. But then the wonder of life is lost.
Inhale the smell; Savour the taste.
Let each meal be a feast, however simple.

Don’t look back with regret.
Yesterday is gone forever.
Enjoy living life today.
And look forward to tomorrow’s gift.

Each little wonder, a miracle.
The cat curled on my lap.
As I stroke its fur lightly.
I hear its purring of content.

Yesterday belongs to death.
Embrace today with living.
Don’t look back with regret.
Life is a gift, give thanks.

I'm a Eurasian of Portuguese, English, Scottish and Malay heritage. And my extended family are of Chinese and Indian heritage. In recent years, the younger generation have added on to include spouses from the Philippines, Nigeria and Russia. My world is made up of different colours like the rainbow. And like the rainbow I am unique. Reading is my form of relaxation, to escape from the drudgery of daily life and enter into a world of the imagination. It is the love of reading that has led me to try my hand in writing short stories and poems. I hope that in some way my stories and poems will take you for a little while away from the drudgery of the present into the pages of imagination. To new friends found, I bid you, Welcome. Sincerely, C.E. Pereira

  1. Simply beautiful. Your poem sends to me the message to be grateful of little things and no matter how simple life is we can be happy if we are content and if we appreciate what life gives us.

    Love it! 😍❤️
