A birthday banner.
Colourful balloons.
A dual celebration,
Easter and a birthday bash.
A celebration.
To celebrate.
Well wishes.
Candles on a cake.
85-years-old,
quiet and unassuming,
strong and protective,
a heart overflowing with love.
A three-tier birthday cake,
of walnut butter baked,
red roses and white icing,
number 85 sits on top.
Lived through WWII,
a father lost to war,
no memories of him.
my grandfather just a name.
A convent girl upbringing,
friendship forged in school,
those left still loyal,
the bond of friendship strong.
Words borrowed:”you’ve taken me
from crayons to perfume”
I am what you taught me,
Strong and caring.
Your 85th birthday party,
we celebrate your happy day,
Happy Birthday Ruth.
Make a wish, cut the cake.

Thank you. It is lovely to know someone other than me thinks the same…”what a wonderful life”. I am really blessed to have her as my mother.
