The Secret Place

The years roll back.
Memories flood, so vivid,
This secret place,
Takes me to my secret place.

To be that age again,
The scent of childhood,
The Raintree with giant roots,
The secret place of my growing years.

Like this Wigwam,
Hidden in the woods,
A secret place,
Such fun awaits the kid.

My secret hidey-hole,
Under those giant roots,
Echos of laughter still rings loud.
Such fun shared with my brothers.

To be that kid again,
Playing cowboys and Indians,
Or just sharing secrets,
Where we meet at our Secret Place.
