A flower is described as pretty,
but what of a wallflower?
A plain Jane with hope fading,
Rooted alone, not seen.
The age of being awkward,
Shy and tongue-tied.
The ballroom a lonely place,
Others dancing, a wallflower unseen.
Fathers, teach your boys,
be gentle with young hearts.
Dance with each girl once,
Leave none standing alone.
How bruised a wallflower,
Left on the sideline,
Yearning to be asked,
Never in the spotlight.
Blending into the background,
As night drags on,
The wallflower drooping,
Waiting for the music to end.

I just saw your post as been away and didn’t get to see on computer at the library. Hope you enjoyed your time in Western Australia. I would like to go over to Western Australia in the future and visit a friend of mine and her family and she and some of the family moved over there recently. The other family members already went over. Will you come back to Australia in the future?

I do like Australia. And may come back for a visit but most probably I’ll want to see a different part of this beautiful country. There is so many more countries that I have not visited that are still on my list. Is there a special place that you visited in Australia that you’d love to revisit?

Thanks Carol. Last year my husband and I spent quite a while in Kuala Lumpur airport in Malaysia on the way to Amsterdam and Ukraine and again before arriving back to Australia. Due to the big airports and my mobility my legs get tired so at times pushed in a wheelchair by airport staff and during the day my husband pushed me. It would take me a lot longer to walk the distance. I can walk and am quite mobile usually. Can only stand a certain time in line especially at airports. The staff are quite helpful. Have you ever been to Australia? Madonna

I and three friends had our holiday in Western Australia in 2010. We travelled from Perth up to Monkey Mia then down to Albany. I called it our Walkabout holiday 🙂

I had thought at one stage in the future of having accommodation at home for people to stay and tutoring how to use Booksmart to encourage people to start doing their own book. It would be like a tourism experience and workshop maybe one on one as may only have limited accommodation. Not sure it I will do yet or not. I had thought of self contained accommodation for people who want a retreat and they carry on with their own projects they do.

That’s ok Carol I’m glad I can encourage. If you are in Australia Blub is here as well and other countries. I downloaded a free program called Booksmart on the Blurb.com site that you can self publish a book with and you only pay when ordering when you have finished your book and how ever many you order and shippage. The quality of colour is good and print. There is also a forum to get help and communicate with other blurb members. Madonna

G’day Madonna. I’m from Malaysia. Thanks for all the info, it is much appreciated. At present, I don’t have any inclination towards publishing. But I will check out Booksmart on Blurb.com. Carol

Thank you Carol. How long have you been writing poetry? Do you put them on cards to family and friends? That’s how I started for about 12 years and then people were saying they couldn’t find appropriate poems or tributes on the internet so I wrote a small book. If you want to look at some of the poems they are on blurb.com under Handy Verse for Occasions. How is the weather there?

Hi Madonna. It’s sunny here. I’ve been writing since the mid-80s but have never actually shown or publish any yet. It’s only this year that I had the courage to try uploading some of my poems on the web. I’ve read some very awesome poems by others and hope that one day I will get to that level. I’ll visit blurb.com. Thank you for your encouragement. Carol

I have set myself a challenge to finish 8 children’s stories and activities and self publish. I started the challenge today 21st Sept 2013 and the finish 21st Sept 2014. A blog is written every day of what I do and I encourage others to post their challenges on my blog and any comment. All the best. Madonna (Donnie)

Your poem tells a true story of life. Looks like freeflowing poetry maybe. Last year I wrote a book of poetry people could use in their cards, tributes etc. Donnie
